It is all pretty straightforward – the very name of our company indicates our connection to sports. It was founded in 1995 with the main purpose of raising funds for sports, disability and humanitarian organizations in Slovenia. Our primary task was to keep the sport-themed lottery Podarim – Dobim (By giving – I’m receiving), which was extremely popular at the time, running successfully.

Sports and lottery hand in hand 

Športna Loterija is a joint-stock company authorized for the continuous operation of games of chance by the Government of the Republic of Slovenia. The first draw of the Športni krog (Sports Circle) game was successfully carried out on 14 December 1996. In the following years, within the limits of our capacities and following the procedures stipulated by law, we developed and implemented several more games in the Slovenian market:

In order to provide simple, quick, and accessible gaming, we use modern player-friendly means of communication: the internet, and gaming via mobile devices and self-service terminals.

Understanding the development trends of games of chance in the European Community is essential, not only in terms of following gaming in neighbouring countries, but also the technological and legislative trends, so as to be able to anticipate and adjust to any changes. For this reason, striving to offer our players the greatest possible choice of new and interesting games of chance, we have been active members of the World Lottery Association (WLA) and the European State Lottery and Toto Association (EL) for several years now. Both associations provide counselling, education, and publishing services, facilitate knowledge sharing, and keep their members up to date on the subjects of new technologies, games, and solutions enhancing the safety of gambling.

Športna Loterija is also a member of the GLMS (Global Lottery Monitoring System), a non-profit organization of 27 lotteries worldwide with a mission to protect the integrity of sports, establish mechanisms preventing betting anomalies, prevent sports corruption, and enhance cooperation with the IOC and FIFA.
